The Soaked in Adventure 3, 6 and 12 Hour race is in a magical setting. It includes farmland, native bush forestry and waterways. Adventure racing is a team sport which involves running or trekking and mountain biking. Check points are collected along the way and you complete some exciting mystery activities. It takes place in a secret location. You find out where the start and finish line is the week before the race and will not see the course maps until the morning of the race. Once you receive your maps you can plan and strategise your course route. Adventure Racing is a team sport and you must stick together and complete the race as a team. This race is located within 30 minutes of Whakatane.

Top

3hr Social Race

The 3hr race is designed for beginners to adventure racing. This is a great opportunity to get the kids involved in adventure racing. Navigation will be basic and appropriate for everyone. The course will be suitable for beginners and children. The Mountain bike will be non-technical.
There will be mystery activities to complete.
No support crew required or allowed. Friends and family are welcome to come to cheer you on and take photos. There will be plenty of spots along the course to view the race.

The Course

To complete the 3hr race you will need to be able to walk/jog approx. 5-7km off road, and mountain bike 10 – 15km.
The race is set so that everyone needs to be back within the 3 hours.
There will be remote transitions so be prepared to carry your gear for the whole race.

Categories:

Social Adult, Student and Family
Each category can have up to 5 people in a team. The family category must have someone of primary school or intermediate school age in the team. If your child is at High School then you must enter the adult category. You do not have to be related.

6hr Race

Top
The 6hr event is designed so that anyone can complete the course or have options to cut it short if required. Some level of fitness will be required. The navigation in this event will be based around tracks, roads and rivers making it achievable for those new to navigation.
The use of optional checkpoints means that the 6hr event will still be a challenge for intermediate level competitors who have some experience in adventure racing.
There will be mystery activities.
No support crew required or allowed. Friends and family are welcome to come to cheer you on and take photos. There will be plenty of spots along the course to view the race.

The Course

To complete the 6hr event you will need to be able to jog/walk approx. 10-15km off road, and mountain bike approx. 25km on forestry roads and farmland (distances will be longer if getting optional checkpoints).
The race is set so that everyone needs to be back within the 6 hours
There will be remote transitions so be prepared to carry plenty of gear.

12hr Race

Top
This 12 hour event is designed to be an exciting challenge for more experienced adventure racers. This is where all you people who have completed a few 6 hour races can step up to the challenge.
The navigation in the 12hr race will be more challenging in parts. There will be off track navigation.
There are two options – kayak and non kayak.
The kayak will not be on open ocean but you must be competent kayaking in wind and chop. Single and double kayaks are allowed. No K1’s allowed.
No support crew required or allowed. Friends and family are of course welcome to come to cheer you on and take photos. There will be plenty of spots along the course to view the race.
There will be remote transitions so be prepared to carry plenty of gear.
